Certification and Standards

All our products are manufactured, tested and certified in the EU, carry the CE (Conformité Européenne) mark and as such conform to the relevant European safety standards, in particular the Low Voltage Directive. They are legal to be installed by qualified electricians in the UK – and completely safe to be used in domestic and commercial environments.

BREXIT AND CE MARKING (updated 01/08/2023)

Since January 2021 there is a new UK product marking, which will be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland), called UKCA. It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking.

The CE mark was going to stop being valid in the UK from 1 January 2025, but on 01 August 2023 the UK government announced that the CE mark will now continue to be valid indefinitely, alongside the new UKCA mark.

Our conventional lighting control products, such as switch and dimmer inserts, are exactly the same as their European counterparts. Our British Standard socket outlet products, including items such as 13A switched/unswitched socket outlets, fused spurs etc are manufactured and tested to BS1363 as well as conforming to the CE regulations.

The exact relevant British standards are BS EN 60669-1:2018 for domestic switches and BS 1363-1:2016+A1:2018 for 13A plugs and socket outlets.

All the manufacturers of applicable products sold by Swtch comply with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) regulations, which cover the production and disposal of products with potentially harmful components.
