As seen on George Clarke’s “Old House New Home 2021”.
Katy Paty, a small team of light switch makers in Bohemia, have perfected a special process of dyeing porcelain in amazing colours.
Now their stunning switches and sockets are also available in a surface-mounted range called “Colona” – meaning that home owners with exposed wiring can accessorise their interiors with stylish light switches too!
This solid porcelain, surface mounted grey plug socket can be combined with concealed cabling or external conduit, or you can match it with Katy Paty’s porcelain wall clips and braided cabling.

(Click image to enlarge. Pictures for illustration only. Number of gangs and/or finishes might vary)
What does an electrician call this?
This is a 1-gang 2-pole 13A socket or 2-gang 2-pole 13A socket
Where is this used in the home?

Installation
Attach the inner plastic wall mount to the wall first. There are knockout perforations for wiring and screwholes in the mount. Wire up the switch mechanism and screw the insert securely onto the mount. Put the porcelain casing over the plastic wall mount, place the front plate on top and align with the two front screw holes. Finally, fasten the assembly with the front screws. MAKE SURE NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREWS – this can break the front plate and/or “lock up” the mechanism.
Please refer to our Installation section for more installation advice, manuals and helpful videos.

When we marry old and new, memories and nostalgia, the details matter
The detail
The form of this switch is circles within circles, undulating rounds of carefully sculptured porcelain create spiralled surfaces for light to dance on – these switches sparkle. The steel screws on the face of the switch are perfectly placed to create symmetry and framing for the rocker, which adds to the classic feel. The porcelain is glossy (although a matt range is coming soon), homely and tactile, and the switch mechanism delivers a satisfying ‘chink’ as you press the rocker to illuminate your room.
Katy Paty’s switches are hand-made artisan products, so you might find slight imperfections and colour variations. But that just adds to the quirky luxury of having these pieces on your walls.
