The beautiful “Snow White” matt finish is an exciting new addition to this iconic, minimalist white LED dimmer range. The LS990 is a modern classic in switch design, admired by architects since 1967 for its restrained, clean lines and the softly rounded dimmer in the same material as the frame.
The rotary dimmer units, made by ION in the Netherlands, are available in load ratings of 200W or 350W. All versions are “universal” LED dimmers, meaning that they can work in both dimming principles (Leading Edge and Trailing Edge).
Click on the “What you need to know” link below for essential product details, dimensions, fitting information and more.
Note for electricians: The 2-way push versions require a retractive push-to-make switch at the “other end” of the loop. A normal latching 2-way switch will not work. Alternatively you can use an auxiliary dimmer as the second control – please get in touch of you need more information on that option.
If you require a different dimmer version, such as a 1-10V controller or “satellite” rotary dimmers, please get in touch.

What’s in the box?
You will receive a modular rocker switch set, consisting of a switch insert, a rocker cover (or a set of them if you have chosen a 2-gang or 3-gang switch) and a 1-gang frame. (Set includes a bracket to connect frame and insert)
What does an electrician call this?
This is a 1-gang 2-way dimmer (Leading Edge or Trailing Edge)
Where is this used in the home?
A 1-gang 2-way dimmer is commonly used for controlling a single light source from one or two places.
Does this cover a standard british back box?
This product covers a standard metal knockout box, but it doesn't cover the edges of plastic "dry-lining" boxes. If you can't fit a metal flush box, we recommend using "flat plate" drywall boxes or European round boxes.
How deep does the back box need to be?
This insert is quite deep, it needs at least 40mm. Check the available options below.
What makes the LS990 so appealing is the fact that it is one of the few ranges where the material and finish are unified across the entire piece. So, a brass-covered frame supports a brass-covered rocker. This adds a sleek coherence to the switch, and is one reason the LS990 has become a classic and much-loved design. Its restrained, geometric lines give it a minimalist form, whilst the clearly defined narrow frame contrasts beautifully with the unusually wide rocker.
And it’s not just pleasing to the eye. The boxy rocker is designed for ease of use and responds to just the gentlest touch, with a reassuringly soft click.
To maintain this clean, contemporary look the LS990 comes with a huge range of coordinating accessories, including British sockets.
Created by Jung in 1967, the LS990 switch range was inspired by the Bauhaus design philosophy of the 1920s. Drawing on the principle of the unity of practicality and aesthetics, the LS990 incorporated geometric form with simple elegance. It became an instant classic, enhancing the ambience of many iconic buildings, and is still loved by architects, interior designers and homeowners alike.
The LS990 has been in production for 48 years and is still one of the most recognisable switches you will find.
unpretentious and attractive, reliable and multifunctional
With its clean, square lines and sleek finish the LS990 switch is at home in modern, minimalist interiors as well as more traditional homes, where the innate character needs to be drawn out. It is a timeless, simple switch that will sit visibly on your wall without being attention-seeking. Even surfaces and an effortless modular form offer comfort and style in equal measure, whether you choose it for a clean white space or to contrast with a busier print or pattern.
The basic LS990 ranges offer semi-glossy finishes in monochrome colours for understated interiors, as well as complementing the other LS990 Silver, Luxe or Dark Metal ranges, which makes it the perfect companion for a wide range of styles.
