The concept
What makes the LS990 so appealing is the fact that it is one of the few ranges where the material and finish are unified across the entire piece. So, a brass-covered frame supports a brass-covered rocker. This adds a sleek coherence to the switch, and is one reason the LS990 has become a classic and much-loved design. Its restrained, geometric lines give it a minimalist form, whilst the clearly defined narrow frame contrasts beautifully with the unusually wide rocker.
And it’s not just pleasing to the eye. The boxy rocker is designed for ease of use and responds to just the gentlest touch, with a reassuringly soft click.
To maintain this clean, contemporary look the LS990 comes with a huge range of coordinating accessories, including British sockets.
Stainless Steel
The well-loved, satin steel finish, with a slightly softer tone and more rounded edges than the Aluminium version.
Aluminium
A matt, very light silver finish with low sheen. From distance it almost looks like a flat grey, but close up it’s unmistakably metallic!
Chrome
The classic chrome plated, mirror-like finish. Very hard-wearing and a real feature on any wall surface.
Timeless style in classic materials
The history
Created by Jung in 1967, the LS990 switch range was inspired by the Bauhaus design philosophy of the 1920s. Drawing on the principle of the unity of practicality and aesthetics, the LS990 incorporated geometric form with simple elegance. It became an instant classic, enhancing the ambience of many iconic buildings, and is still loved by architects, interior designers and homeowners alike.
The LS990 has been in production for 48 years and is still one of the most recognisable switches you will find.
The inspiration
With its clean, square lines and sleek finish the LS990 switch is at home in modern, minimalist interiors as well as more traditional homes whe
