With its series of subtle shades, the first palette of 43 tones from 1931, above all reflects naturalness.PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RANGE CURRENTLY HAS A LEAD TIME OF 10-12 WEEKS!

The LS range shows off its continuous colour most effectively when frame and rocker are the same finish. The modular nature of these switches allows for extensive customisation though, so get in touch if you have a different combo in mind!

Jung offers a huge range of wiring products, functions and devices that can be combined with these frames. Contact us for information on other options if you can’t find what you’re looking for.

What you need to know

What’s in the box?

You will receive a modular rocker switch set, consisting of a switch insert, a rocker cover (or a set of them if you have chosen a 2-gang or 3-gang switch) and a 1-gang frame. (Set includes a bracket to connect frame and insert)

What does an electrician call this?

This is a 1-gang 2-way 10AX, 2-gang 2-way 10AX, 1-gang intermediate 10AX or a 3-gang 2-way 10AX switch

Where is this used in the home?

A 1-gang 2-way switch is commonly used for controlling a single light source from one or two places. A 1-gang intermediate is used as the middle switch of three, controlling a single light source (for example in a hallway). A 2-gang switch is used for controlling two light sources from one or two places. A 3-gang switch is commonly used for controlling three light sources from one or two places.

Dimensions

Does this cover a standard british back box?
This product covers a standard metal knockout box, but it doesn't cover the edges of plastic "dry-lining" boxes. If you can't fit a metal flush box, we recommend using "flat plate" drywall boxes or European round boxes.

How deep does the back box need to be?
This insert is quite deep, it needs at least 40mm. Check the available options below.

The concept

Based on Le Corbusier’s palette of harmonious colours, “Les Couleurs” is a truly extraordinary range of light switches.

The “Architectural Polychromy” concept means that any of its 63 colours – one set published in 1931, the other, with more punchy hues, in 1959 – can be combined with each other to create homogenous schemes.

Co-ordinated by the organisation that looks after the legacy of this palette, there are also wall paints, carpets, tiles and other accessories in the same colours. A must for any lover of polychromatic interiors or Le Corbusier disciple!

The craft

Every Les Couleurs frame, button or cover is hand-sprayed in one single factory in Germany. They usually sprays car parts – turns out that it’s the most vibrant and longest lasting matt lacquer Jung could find!

The hand-finishing goes some way to explain the very long lead time on this range. It may take up to 12 weeks until delivery… but it’s definitely worth the wait.

The history

Created by Jung in 1967, the LS990 switch range was inspired by the Bauhaus design philosophy of the 1920s. Drawing on the principle of the unity of practicality and aesthetics,  the LS990 incorporated geometric form with simple elegance. It became an instant classic, enhancing the ambience of many iconic buildings, and is still loved by architects, interior designers and homeowners alike.

The LS990 has been in production for 48 years and is still one of the most recognisable switches you will find.

The inspiration

With its clean, square lines and sleek finish the LS990 switch is at home in modern, minimalist interiors as well as more traditional homes where the innate character needs to be drawn out. It is a timeless, simple switch that will sit visibly on your wall without being attention-seeking.

With the Les Couleurs range, whether the more vibrant 1959 palette or the 1931 pastels, you can now add flashes of colour that suit your interior scheme. We like how some designers have used them to create a complete “tone in tone” match to the wall, but since all of the hues work with each other, you can also mix them for a more eclectic look!
